My Goals

1. Short-Term Goals

I came to the Apparel production program in 2019 with the hope of understanding how to effectively create product designs I aspired to create. I believe I received many opportunities to do this through my undergraduate career because of the fashion society fashion shows and consignment with the Building 45 boutique. AM^2 was a great experience to understand how to work in a work environment to create clothes under restriction. This restriction helped foster creativity and encourage problem solving.

My ability to manufacture my designs greatly improved during my 5 years in the apparel manufacture program. Through the courses I took I began to understand how to properly construct garments based on the designs I created. This led to me learning how to scale and create more than just one product based on a design and how to communicate the process of manufacturing the product. Learning the importance of clearly communicating showed how detailed you can be when making a product and this is how my products improved greatly.

Long-Term Goals

I aim to grow in understanding different cultures and histories to better communicate the world around me. I learn about myself by learning about culture and history and it inspires me to appreciate other especially when they are different than me. I hope this makes me a good teacher and friend so I can be a positive member of my community.

As I grow as a learner, I hope to become a trans-disciplinary learner that comfortably mixes different areas of study to create a deep understanding of how to develop long-lasting sustainable products. Currently my focus as a learner has been to build my foundation of textile product design with an emphasis on eco-design and eco-manufacturing. In the near future I want to combine this with anatomical design and an improved understanding of industrial/system engineering, anatomical design, and materials engineering. This will then lead to regenerative design when I combine these areas of study into making products that benefit humans greatly while improving the environment with each product.

I am looking for a full-time design/art career where I develop my own products as an artisan independently and assist other brands in the process of developing their products.
